Ubiquities: Incantations, Geopresence and Telepæsants

Eastern Bloc and Art Souterrain present an evening of teleperformances exploring the notion of ubiquity, the ability to be present in multiple places at once, reinterpreted through telepresence technologies.

Three projects in development offer singular approaches to this reflection. Geopresence, by Paloma Dawkins and Fili Gibbons, opens the evening with a media tapestry blending sound, real-time visuals and embodied practices to decenter our perception of territory.

Telepæsants, a performance by Michal Seta and Dirk Stromberg, proposes an electronic jam between Montréal and Singapore where distance and latency become creative material.

The evening closes with Incantations, by the collective Future Ancestors: Koko Mariano, Jielin Liu and Najeeba Ahmed, a multisensory performance exploring speculative forms of connection and communication beyond language.

Paloma Dawkins and Fili Gibbons’ performance will begin outdoors. Those interested are invited to join a guided sunset walk through the industrial garden lot in front of Eastern Bloc. The activity will open with sensory grounding exercises led by Paloma, followed by a sound improvisation from Fili blending voice and electronics with the surrounding soundscape. The event will be livestreamed on Eastern Bloc’s Instagram for those unable to attend in person.
