ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Nicolas Bouillot is a coder, artist, and cooperative entrepreneur. He earned a PhD from the Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers in Paris (CNAM) in 2006, then worked as a postdoctoral researcher at McGill University (2007–2011). In 2012, he joined the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) as a researcher/developer, later serving as co-director of research from 2017 to 2023. Today, as co-founder of the Lab148 cooperative, his work has led to the presentation of dozens of collective digital experiences.
Rooted in applied research, his projects have contributed to the development of open-source software and notable innovations, such as a telepresence network linking more than 20 venues in Quebec (Scènes ouvertes) and an immersive spherical loudspeaker prototype (Audiodice). He initiated and was the lead developer for several open-source tools dedicated to 3D sound and low-latency data transfer: Sh4lt, SATIE, Switcher, and Shmdata.
ABOUT LAB148
Lab148 is a cooperative founded in 2023 with a mission to foster collective participation in multimedia installations. Our team consists of expert coders and creators specializing in the design and production of XR, VR, and interactive digital installation projects. Our main strength lies in developing adaptable technological setups for diverse presentation spaces, combining sound immersion, visual immersion, and interactivity.
This conference is produced by Lab148 and presented by Nicolas Bouillot. It is supported by Eastern Bloc and made possible through financial assistance from Ministère de l'Économie, de l'Innovation et de l'Énergie du Québec.
